We have a variety of different activities for volunteering at the SPCA or offsite events.

Fredericksburg SPCA’s Volunteer program
Our volunteer program is designed to give our staff additional support so that the organization can reach as many animals and people within the community as possible. Volunteers help in many different ways including: helping at the front desk, supporting our Community Medical Center, running offsite adoption events and even helping out Animal Care Technicians with their daily tasks.

How do I volunteer at the Fredericksburg SPCA?

Click volunteer button on our website to complete the online application. You must fill out all information for your account on Give Pulse in order to be considered for the next step in our volunteer recruitment. Once all information is filled out, you will get a message from the Volunteer Coordinator with additional information on how to sign up for the In Shelter Training. The In Shelter Training includes a tour around the building and a step by step through our easier volunteer tasks such as laundry and dishes.

You must complete 10 hours of basic duties around the SPCA in order to move on to dog walking/training.

There is a minimum of 4 hours per month to remain active in our volunteer database. Our program offers many ways for you to learn and grow within the organization. If there is something in particular that you would love to help out with, reach out to the Volunteer Coordinator to see how you can learn more about a specific area of interest.

Are there any age restrictions?

Yes, you must be 16 years or older to volunteer at the SPCA without parent supervision. In addition, you also must be 18 years or older to work with the any animals without parent supervision. If you have a child under 16 years old, they may volunteer with you so long as you are supervising your child at all times.

What if I just want to walk dogs?

Try out our Adventure Tails Program! You do not have to be a volunteer for this program and you can walk any dog of your choosing so long as they are a good fit for you.

Do you offer Community service opportunities?

We do! If someone needs to do community service for school or an extracurricular activity, click VOLUNTEER  and complete the volunteer onboarding process. If it is court ordered community service, you may complete your hours after having filled out the court ordered community service application packet.

If you have any other questions that are not answered in our F.A.Q.,  please email volunteer@Fredspca.org for more information!
