FredSPCA partners with Spotsylvania Social Services Department to provide Pet Care Packages to families in need.

The FredSPCA partnered with the Spotsylvania Department of Social Services (DSS) for the Holiday Hope Program to provide needy residents with pet supplies and access to our People Empowered Through Support (P.E.T.S.) Program.

The Holiday Hope Program matches businesses, church and community groups, and individuals with needy families. Qualifying families submit an application to DSS and provide a list of the names, ages, and clothing sizes of children in the household. Sponsors can then provide their match family with food, grocery store gift cards, or gifts for the children. Through the Holiday Hope Program, DSS was able to provide nearly 500 families with meals and gifts for the Holidays.

The FredSPCA distributed support in the form of Pet Care Packages of dog or cat food, treats and toys to pet parents arriving to pick up holiday assistance from the DSS. In addition to food and supplies, the FredPCA provided on-site information to life-saving pet resources available to pet parent in need. A highlight of the P.E.T.S. programs is the Pet Pantry, providing free food to qualified families therefore reducing the financial burden of pet care and often making all the difference between keeping a pet and having to give it up.

The Pet Care Packages were assembled by SPCA volunteers and the items inside were donated by the community, PetValue, and Chick-Fil-A .

The FredSPCA is delighted to share that more than 250 animals received life-saving pet Care packages for the Holidays.
