Re-Home

Your Pet

We are a humane, nonprofit organization with limited space. We try to keep our facility full at all times to maximize our life-saving potential, which means we will do what we can to help keep animals with their families. We have resources to match most situations and educational tools to help you understand what is going on in your animals’ minds.

IMPORTANT UPDATE:
We are currently without a Veterinarian-in-Charge and will be temporarily limiting owner surrenders until we fill the role. This allows us to maintain appropriate medical oversight and quality of care for the animals already in our shelter. We will resume broader intake services once our new veterinarian has joined the team. Visit our Veterinary Transition info page and FAQs to learn more.

We understand how difficult this situation can be. While we are lowering our intakes temporarily, there are certain ways the Fred SPCA can still help, depending on the intake reason. We can:
● Add you to our intake request list (please fill out Intake Request Form)
● Provide behavior support resources through Petcademy
● Provide supplemental pet food and supplies through our pet pantry
● Provide a list of other shelters, rescues, and low-cost veterinary clinics

We are here to help connect you with resources whenever possible. Please email [email protected] to connect with our team for intake diversion resources.

If you need help with free pet food or supplies, apply to our People Empowered Through Support Program.

If you need an immediate start to re-homing your pet , please click the link below to try and re-home your pet from the comfort of it’s home. Please be aware that this is a third party resource and the re-homing is not through the Fredericksburg SPCA .
