Community Medicine Veterinarian

The Community Medicine Veterinarian provides compassionate, high-quality veterinary care to public clients through Fredericksburg SPCA’s community clinic. This role focuses primarily on preventive care, basic medical treatment, client education, and spay/neuter services for owned animals in the Greater Fredericksburg community.

While this position may support shelter operations as needed, its primary responsibility is the delivery of accessible, mission-aligned veterinary services to the public in a manner that reflects FredSPCA’s commitment to professionalism, empathy, and community impact.

Veterinarian-In-Charge (Shelter & High-Volume)

The Veterinarian-in-Charge (VIC) is responsible for providing medical leadership and regulatory oversight for Fredericksburg SPCA’s shelter medicine and high-volume veterinary programs. This role focuses primarily on the medical care of animals in SPCA custody, including intake, population management, infectious disease control, and high-volume spay/neuter services.

As VIC, this position serves as the primary veterinary authority for the organization, ensuring compliance with Virginia Board of Veterinary Medicine regulations, DEA requirements, and internal medical protocols. The VIC works in close partnership with executive and shelter leadership to support animal welfare, operational sustainability, and quality of care.

Veterinary Assistant

Compassionate Care Technician 

Compassionate Care Technician is responsible for the daily cleaning, feeding, and provision of any medical treatments to the animals in our care. You are also assisting with adoptions and recommending pets to meet the family’s preferences and needs.
