Molly Flurry grew up in the Midwest, rescuing too many stray dogs and cats to accurately recount. Now located in Fredericksburg with 7-year-old stepchild, Sam, and his dad, Andy Cornick. She transitioned from a career in print media into law in 2011 and is now practicing in Fredericksburg and surrounding areas with a focus on small businesses, real estate, banking, and estate planning matters with a high number of animal-focused clients. Molly is presently serving on the Friends of the Rappahannock Board of Directors (at Large Member) and Central Virginia Housing Coalition Board of Directors (Vice President). She is the proud owner of Gideon, the 17-year-old shelter cat, Lincoln the pandemic puppy, and Roland, the destroyer of trash cans.
Senior Consultant for Deloitte, specializing in strategic support for federal clients. An alumni from Mary Washington, with almost 20 years active in the downtown community. Proud father of two rescue cats.
Brad Canova is a Principal Software Engineer at The MITRE Corporation. He has lived in the Fredericksburg area for over 20 years. He grew up in central Pennsylvania on a farm and has had pets his entire life. He has been
a member of the SPCA board since June of 2016, and president since 2024.
George Barnick is the president and founder of Fredericksburg Technology. George has been a Fredericksburg native for his entire life and currently resides in the heart of downtown. During his time growing up, community service and charity was always strongly emphasized and has been an inspiration to help area organizations thrive and prosper as the Fredericksburg region continues to grow. George is a proud rescue dog dad of two Alaskan Malamute mixes from the Fredericksburg SPCA.
Sarah Walsh has served in various roles at the Rappahannock United Way since 2004. Born and raised in England, she worked with UK based charitable organizations St Oswald’s Hospice, and OXFAM International. Sarah’s leadership journey has led her to serve on several boards and committees at the local, state and national level, including as a Commissioner to the Governor’s Advisory Board on National and Community Service, Fredericksburg SPCA, Volunteer Centers of Virginia, Virginia Credit Union Advisory Council, Rappahannock Electric Cooperative Community Grants Committee, and the Spotsylvania Education Foundation Board of Directors.

Robert Hyland’s family moved to the Fredericksburg area in the mid – seventies and has basically resided in the Fredericksburg area since. Currently, he lives below the college and has no plans of relocating, despite recently retiring from the Inspector General’s Office for the Department of Health & Human Services, where he was employed for the past 32 years. He currently works for the VA Department of Health Professions on a part – time basis.
Growing up he enjoyed the company of multiple dogs; St. Bernard’s and mixed breeds were always a part of the household. He’s a big advocate of the adoption process and has been adopting Greyhounds for the past 15 years. He currently has 3 retired racers living in downtown Fredericksburg.
Dr. Gregory Cox has lived in the Fredericksburg area for 28 years. He and his wife Sherri have a dental practice together since moving here from Oklahoma in 1989. They have raised five children here and over the course of this time have had 10 dogs and one cat, three of which were adopted from the SPCA. Dr. Cox when not working spends most of his time with his family doing many different things like fishing , bike riding, golfing and traveling. Dr. Cox has had previous board experience with the American Red Cross 1996 through 1999 and the Fredericksburg Rotary club 1999 to 2001.
