June was a big month at the Fredericksburg SPCA—literally. A total of 73 cats and 32 dogs found their happily-ever-afters, and we couldn’t be more thrilled. From June 3 to 8, we ran a brand-new adoption promotion called Go Big and Go Home, where adoption fees for our larger animals were just one dollar per pound. That’s right: adopting a hefty hunk of love came with a hefty discount.
The goal? Shine a light on the bigger pets who often get overlooked simply because they take up more room on the couch. And it worked. Families came out in full force, ready to meet their match, and several of our long-stay residents finally packed their squeaky toys, and scratching-posts for good. It was a week of wagging tails, purring goodbyes, and more than a few victory laps around the adoption floor.
As we head into July, we’re keeping the momentum going and crossing our fingers (and paws) for another month of full hearts and empty kennels. Whether it’s a tiny floof or a jumbo-sized cuddle monster, there’s always someone waiting to go home, and we can’t wait to share even more success stories in the weeks ahead.
